Default What are the best alarm systems

Hi, I'm gonna be buying a Stang and I don't want it to get stolen. What are the best alarm systems out right now and what are your thoughts on lojack, I have seen the revell system and I'm pretty sure i'm getting that, they haven't had a car stolen with it on in over 30 years!

I'm not sure about alarms, but a fuel or spark cut-off switch will keep anyone from stealing it. And with the switch hidden, theres less of a chance of bypassing it.

i have a Prestige alarm has keyless start 2 way page and cut off switch , forgot which series it is but its the expensive one of it but only cost 300 w/ installation, i dont think theres any way anyone can jack or break into my car without me knowing also the cut off switch or killswitch w/e has a code so if somone knows about it they cant just push it and start the car
The Cobra alarms are almost the same but have longer range on 2way page and cost almost the same

The car wont start at all unless you unlock the car with the alarm, or you know the code to and push the button, but other than that even with the key you cant start the car

Ok. since everyone always has their own opinion on this matter. here is my two cents. I would go with some type of an alarm with a pager and a screen on the remote to tell you whats going on, and also prevents falsing. you also want one with incresed range. like Clifford makes the 50.5x which is a 1 mile range with the screen and the whole bit. and it actually is a one mile range. Viper also makes one similar. but IMO alarms are all about add ons. motion sensors, tilt sensors, glass breakage, piezo sirens.... that stuff is what really makes your **** protected. Not the basic alarm themselves.

thanks fastass, The clifford website looks like high quality stuff, so you think Clifford 50.5x is the best alarm, do you have any other suggestions, money is no object for me. Please let me know your opinion.

my car just got keyed to hell and im going to put an alarm in it before i get it fixed. what alarms will beep when you get close to them or talk to you when you get close. i think if it does that it will detur them from doing it again know there is an alarm on it

Hmm edit from my other post cobra= viper got it mixed up for some reason lol, but yeah vipers got good sensors that detect a small hit dont know how it does against a scratch though, alarms are made to warn you when its getting broken into and if you put the sensitivity level on the alarm too high even the wind sets it off which gets annoying, not sure what you could do to prevent scratches to your car i already have 2 giant scratches on my rear panel and bumper which my alarm didnt set off, dont know if theres any bulletproof protection other than a garage but if you find one plz let me kno

whoa whoa... xxxgtxxx. tell them to stick it for 140 you can get a much better price. all it is one harness that you plug into the brain and put the sensor under the (in your car) center console. But yeah, the way it works is it is a radar sensor, it has adjustable proximities (inner and outer) that you can adjust how sensitive it is... I have one on my car... and you may have to have it adjusted several times before it is just rite, but the way mine is (after about 5 adjustments).. just passing by will not set it off, but if you were standing near it (looking in to steal my radio or something) then it would give warning chirps. and would not fully go off untill you broke my window or something. also another cool feature that you can use it for is leaving your windows down to go into a gas station real quick or something like that.. then as soon as the inner proximity is broken it would sound off. Hope i can help

Yeah, you can set it to chirp when they are about a foot away, it just takes time to fine tune it. If it is for a DEI alarm like the one i was recomending (clifford, viper, python... etc) Then i believe that my cost on the sensor is around 35 to 40 bux. so retail shouldnt be much more than 50-55. And trust me it is not 100 dollars of effort to install it. Its really very easy (keeping in mind that im only talking about the DEI alarms because thats what i know) one harness plugs into the brain of the alarm and then you want to get the physical sensor as close to the middle of the car as possible. In our cars there is a good spot underneath the center console. And thats it. the rest is just fine tuning adjustments (the part thats a PIA). And yes, the alarms that i have recomended do let you know on the screen if warning chirps are set off as well.
