Default Right side speakers dont work...help please

I bought a 2000 mustang recently without the mach sound system. When i got it i noticed that the right side front speaker wasnt working so i just figured it was just a bad speaker. I bout 4 infinity reference speakers to replace the stock ones and after i had installed them i noticed that it was both the front and back right speakers that were not working.

There is an aftermarket head unit installed which i did not install myself. I took it out today to try to see if i could make any sense of it but i could not. There seems to be a black 4x2 pin harness that is L-shaped. It is broken at the curve of the L and there is a wire sticking out with no plastic shield on it. Could this harness be the source of the speaker problem?

I may be able to take a picture of it later and submit it if that would help.

Pictures are always helpful. Did you check the fuse on the back of the head unit? Get a digital multimeter and see if there is power going to the speakers. If you find that there isn't any power being fed through the wiring to the speakers, you can either trace the wires from the non-operational speakers back to the wiring harness to repair any damaged wiring or you can just run new wiring (which is usually the way I go because I hate trouble shooting electrical issues). If that doesn't work, your head unit might have shorted out and fried part of the internal chip preventing it from sending out signals to all channels.
