New Guy With a Stereo Question in 2007 Mustang V6

Hey guys im new and i have a 07 mustang V6 with the shaker 500 stereo. I keep Blowing up the sub and i've had it replaced under warrenty however my warrenty is about to expire and im going to have to buy a new sub so im looking for a stronger aftermarket sub that will fit into the stock location and wire up easily

Hey dude. Im big into sound, i work at a sound store out on long island, NY and subs are a must. What kind of money are you lookin to spend all together? Your going to need a nice amp as well to power the sub. But what comes into play, is the special wiring needed to hook the sub off the factory radio. Let me know the specifics on what you wanna do, i have great, cheap, quality web sites that i can hook you up with something nice.

factory stereos never last..not even the new shaker 1000 system found in newer mustangs..id go with an aftermarket head unit that already has the pre-amp outputs, get yourself a nice little sub and amp packege and youll be in good shape..its hard keeping the factory plastic boxes from blowing apart under the stresses of a higher-end subwoofer

Just because you get a better sub dosen't mean you won't blow it up, It mostly has due to clipping of the signal. If you intend to crank it up enough to blow that sub, you definatley are going to need a better amp.

Could you be more specific when you say "I keep blowing the speaker."? Do you mean you're ripping the cone, frying the coil, breaking the enclosure? Does the sub make a nasty "burning electronics" smell and then stop working?

The thing about the Shaker 500 door woofers is that they have their own factory amps that are (i'm assuming) power-matched to the stock subs. The problem with putting in aftermarket subs is that the chances are that they will have a higher power rating and you'll end up toasting them by under-powering them with the crappy stock amps.
