Unhappy Annoying Stereo Problems/PLEASE HELP!

I have a 2000 Mustang Gt with the mach 460 system in it. I have been having a lot of problems with the stereo in it. Sometimes it will randomly go from cd to radio and back and forth. It will keep doing this until you shut of the radio. It also stopped playing cd's, it won't even let you put a cd in, it's like it has no power to it at all. and the last problem is that sometimes the amps don't kick on, and you can barely hear the stereo, but then sometimes they turn on and it sounds fine. All of this has been getting worse lately too. i checked the grounds for the stereo and cd player and both of them looked good. i was wondering if this would be the head unit, the cd player, or the amps, or a combination of both. if anyone knows a solution please tell me. i'd rather keep the stock stereo if possible, but if i can't what is the best way to hook up an aftermarket stereo to the mach 460, and what would i do with the cd player down there. thanks for any help.

sounds like the head unit itself. try swapping in another one as a test. also check and see how hot it gets.. too hot will cause weird problems.
