Default 2006 Mustang GT using the mp3 player

I have a 2006 GT and i was considering buying an Ipod for my car, but i'm starting to think that it is going to be too difficult to get it going. I was also thinking of putting most of my cd's into mp3 files and burning a disc so i can play it in my car. how do i go about doing this and does anyone think that is a better option than the Ipod?
