Default modern radio for a 1966 vert questions

I have a 66 vert that currently has a Clarion 8302RT (?) am/fm cassette. Currently only have two 6.5" speakers in the rear quarter trim panels. Just upgraded from Sparkomatic SK63 to Sony Xplods. I plan on adding the front center speaker from MU, part no. 1001DVC. I drive this car for fun, so not worried about staying stock, but do not want to go crazy aftermarket either.

I cannot find any spec info on the Clarion unit so I have no idea what the power output is, I suspect low. I have an older Kenwood am/fm cassette that is 25W X 4 that I can put in it. A new unit for around $100 would have 50W X 4. I am interested in using the cassette deck to run an XM portable unit that I can move from my Camry as needed. I am also interested in the possibility of playing CD's and a front aux input for my MP3 player. I have the following questions, looking for you guys advice:

1. Cheapest alternative is to put in the Kenwood unit, use the cassette for XM and forget about the MP3 player and the CD. My only concern with this idea is not sure I will be happy with the 25W per channel and the lack of music sources.

2. I can put in a new unit and use the CD and the MP3 input. I would have to get an FM modulator adaptor to run the XM since I would have no cassette.

3. Should I be concerned about any power or impedance issues running a 2008 radio in a 1966 car?

4. If I upgrade to the 50W per channel radio with a sub output, will that be enough power to run a nonpowered sub in the trunk if I decide to add that later?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at the Custom Autosound Decks at all. They have updated their line up to allow more modern options Like USB stored MP3s and AUX connections instead of using FM Modulators.
