Been shopping for a remote starter but the bloody hidden fees are getting me down Everything is "extra". The popular wisdom I've found is that installing remote starters yourself is a bad idea. I'll bow to that but I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to have a shop do the "basic install" and leave things like door locks, trunk release, and defroster for me to do at my leisure. Anything to save a buck lol. Any advice?

My local ford dealer quoted me 400 bucks,,,,,Granted, that would not include remote trunk, but, ford parts, ford install,,,,,, better than DIY, and installer run around.

The Dealer installed it yesterday,,,,, 520 bucks,,, and the remote trunk release does work. Nothing on the invoice showing any parts or labor for the trunk lock.
