Default 1966 Mustang Coupe Rear Speaker

What size speaker is supposed to go in the rear center speaker opening on a 1966 coupe? I don't want to put 2 in, so I figured what if I got one of the larger dual core speakers and put it in the center rear speaker opening. I have a dual core in the front, and it is really nice. Thanks guys.

It is custom autosound. That is what all my radio equipment is. I have their USA-66, with cd changer, dual core speaker in the front, and I was hoping to put a single dual core speaker in the back.

I put two 9 inch (2-way) units in the back of my 66 coupe and they sound great. Several supplier sell the package tray with pre-cut opening for that size. I did have to carve away a little bit of the opening in the metal deck underneath with a dremel-tool for the fit but if you test before hand you might be able to skip this messy step. I think you'll like two in the back rather than a single split speaker. There is just not enough separation to get a stereo effect with that set-up
