Exclamation 2008 Mustang shaker 500 watt, speaker installation help

08 mustang V6 with shaker 500
ok so i have purchase a
pionner phbt8000 head unit
pionner GM-6400F 4channel amp for speakers
rockford fosgate 12" p3l sub
Alpine MRP-M500 mono amp for the sub

so far im keeping the factory speakers until i can get more cash.
so now my questions are
1. in order to install the amps do i have to remove the factory amp?if i do does anyone know were is it located?
2. are the door 6x8's speakers with tweeters or are they subwoofers? if they are subs is it recommended to connect the two door sub and the rocksford sub with the alpine amp or do i have to buy a third amp for the two door subs?
3. lastly for the back speakers i noticed a black speaker harness(c link http://www.upload-image.org//view.ph...a64314c8a7ba3f
in order to install the speakers to the amp do i just see were the colored wires from the harness lead to, disconnect from the end and thats what i connect to that amp?
oh and yes i am a newbie and ive been getting head acheshttp://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/sick.gif trying to install my equipment

Default well...

1. in order to install the amps do i have to remove the factory amp?if i do does anyone know were is it located? You bypass it by using your Pioneer amp (you know... run your preamp wires). If you don't want to use that amp or any other amp... then you will need this

2. are the door 6x8's speakers with tweeters or are they subwoofers? if they are subs is it recommended to connect the two door sub and the rocksford sub with the alpine amp or do i have to buy a third amp for the two door subs? You actually have 6x8s on the top of the door plus a little 7" subwoofer on the bottom if i remember correctly. The subwoofer uses pretty much all 500 watts of the 500 watt shaker system so I would leave that alone (you don't replace the subs). you will need an adapter to keep your subwoofer working!!! For your speakers, use the pioneer amp, but you will have to run new wires from the amp to your door speakers.

Any more questions? (BTW i have the same amp as you!!! good choice!) I have the alpine 500 Mono connected to a single 12 CompVR in a stealth box! I ran it off the rear speakers which is what you will have to do since the subwoofer preamp needs to be connected to your ford amp to keep your door subs working!

I will make a guide on installing a subwoofer/amp for you guys tomorrow since i don't have any work tomorrow, well... no promises.

The hard part for you is deciding where to install the pioneer amp, and running new wires to the 5X8 Speakers in the front.

If it were me, I would run 4 preamp wires from the headset to the rear seat on the left side and the 4 gauge power wire to the right side along the remote wire on the right side. 3 preamp wires (be sure to remember which is front/rear/sub) will be connected to all preamp outputs on the cd player and the fourth will be connected to your factory harness for the factory subwoofers in the door. As for the amps location install the subwoofer amp on the back of the right seat and the speaker amp on the back of the left seat. If you get it right, you should be able to fold down the seats with the amps installed. Then run the fourth preamp wire to the alpine amp's preamp out. I hope this makes sense.

Then you will have to run speaker wires to your 6X8's, the doors will be the hardest.

As for a ground, take the rear seat off, drill a hole, sand it, and use that. I was able to find an unused screw hole under the seat!

To get the power wire in, there is a hole you can use under the battery. The battery cover screws are threadlocked but it can be taken off. Make sure you use a grommet for the firewall!!!

Oh. and don't try hooking up the factory speakers (the four 5X8s) to the pioneer amp!!! You will blow those speakers and then you will have to get some infinity speakers.

In my opinion, and what i did with my car, the easiest way to add speakers and subs is to leave the stock stuff alone, especially the head unit. The shaker 500 system has a good head unit and the speakers are matched perfectly to the factory amp. If you want to add more subs or speakers just throw the new amps in the trunk and run a hi low converter from the deck speakers and find a place to put new ones. Keep in mind the shaker system has 8 speakers which pretty much all are designed to hit mid bass and up so really all you need without being wasteful is just a good sub or two in the trunk. Thats just my two cents and the easiest and cheapest way to go i would think.

I agree completely. I would have just upgraded the 6X8s to infinity and then add the alpine 500 amp and the kicker sub, use the rear speakers for line-inputs on the alpine amp, and call it a day (except for dynomat). Oh wait, that is what i did in my car

I took a different approach to this altogether. Before I get started here's a little info on what I have hooked up.

Alpine CDA-9856 head unit with full speed iPod cable. 30gb iPod video.

Alpine Type-S (SPS-57C2) 5x7/6x8" speakers in the doors and rear deck.

Alpine Type-R 12" (SWR-1242D) Dual 4 ohm voice coil subwoofer (250w each coil) with the coils wired in parallel for a 2 ohm load. Driven by (everyone's favorite, apparently!) an MRP-M500 amp (mono, 300w at 4 ohms, 500w at 2 ohms)

I have a wiring harness that adapts my door sub + and - to RCA's, for use with my Alpine head unit. I used an RCA splitter adapter on the + and - and then plugged my RCA's for the Alpine sub into there as well as the Shaker 500 subs. Then I spliced my Alpine amp into the remote wire along with the Shaker 500 amps.

I swapped my head unit and speakers as usual without having to splice into my rear deck speakers and lose a bunch of signal.

The splitter I used for the RCA's can be seen here...

They can be had at Radio shack for like $5 each. You'll need 2; one for the + and one for the -.
