Im looking to find new speakers, and stereo

I have a few questions...

im wondering if the watts in the speakers matter
if so, will the new stereo take care of that
do i need a wiring harness
and does anyone have any recomendations for speakers or a stereo?

Pioneer 6x8 4way 260-280w but that doesn't really matters what matters is the rms and most of them are 50w rms.
