connecting wires

hey guys

I am about to install my new Kenwood DNX8120.

What is the best way of connecting the cables? It seems like a lot of people are soldering the wires, but is it really neccessairly to do that? Wouldnt it just be easier to use some crimps?
What will give the best result?

What is the gauge size of the wires in a shaker 1000?
I was looking at these crimp-ons:
Crimp-On Telephone/Alarm Connectors (10-Pack) - RadioShack.com

Would these be good to use, or would you recommend something different?

Crip connectors are good also some electric tape not black tape cuz with the heat it rips off...

I prefer to use blue butt-splices in mine. If I know the colors and I don't need a harness I prefer to use the "Pac Man" style clamp on connectors with spades.

Crimping is fine.
These are about the best, make sure you get the crimper for them, don't just use pliers.

You can get them at about any auto store, lowes, home depot, etc.

Might be a stupid question, but do you need to twist the wires prior to putting them in the crimps? i understand you first have to put the crimp on, but do you have to twist them around each other?
