Default 12 inch JL audio sub repair?

So I have a JL W3 12 inch subwoofer and I totally blew apart the foam surround, I think I accidentally hit the loudness button... not happy at all about this. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone has any experience with repairing this. I have seen on ebay and other places kits that come with a new foam surround and acrylic adhesive, that claim to be able to fix the speaker like new. If you or anyone you know have used something like this, or anything else, to successfully repair a sub, please let me know. Any advice is much appreciated, I'm hoping I can fix the sub rather than replace it, but I wonder if it will work and sound right. Thanks for any help or advice.

Thumbs up

I don't think fixing it will be a good idea. cuz it can blow again, what I suggest is to fix it and get rid of it and buy another one... I had JL's before and one was open but not blown but I decided to sell them, I liked how they rock but they were not that loud...

You can send it in to JL and they will recone it for you......I had a problem with one of my W4's and they said I just needed to take it to a dealer and have them send it in. It was cheaper then buying a new one so I gave it a

Well, I spent $20 on the surround kit from my audio addiction, and while it was a good bit of work, I am very happy with the results, the speaker sounds as good as it did new and hits just as hard, so I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has a similar failure, well worth the cost and the results are impressive. Now I'll see how long it lasts...
