Default Putting a 01-04 Radio Bezel into a '99

Hi all,

I want to update my radio into a navigation/entertainment center. However, I need to get the double DIN bezel from the 01-04 Mustang model. The '99 radio bezel has 2 single DINs, with the bottom one being indented about 3 inches.

My question is:
I was examining the gear selector (I have an automatic). It seems that it might not be able to go into park if I get the newer bezel. Has anybody done this? Will my gear selector be able to have its full range without hitting the bezel or my new nav unit?

I haven't bought anything yet, just doing my research first!

I did the bezel/radio swap and haven't encounter any problems. I have a 5-speed BTW.
I don't see why it would be a problem with an auto? The 01-04 autos have such a bezel.

Keep in mind that there will some cutting (a bar that sits between the two radios) and some customs straps to hold the radio in place. No big deal though. Also, don't forget to get a radio kit for your double DIN radio (yes, double DIN's need a kit too). I'm not too sure about factory double DIN radios needing such a kit (by kit I mean the plastics that go around the radio, not the harness). And of course, you'll need a harness too for your aftermarket radio.

If you have the Mach460 system, you'll need the harness with the RCA jacks instead of wires (you'll want to hook-up to the factory amps too, right?).

Thanks for the reply. What is the easiest way to tell that I have a Mach 460 system or not? When I say easiest, I mean without breaking out any tools/screwdrivers...

The easiest way to know would be by checking on the plate that sits on the tweeters. The plate should read "Ford Mach460" or so. The tweeters are on the opposite side of your LH/RH mirrors (mounted on the actual door).

I have never been inside a Mustang without a Mach460 system, so I'm not sure what's there instead (that's if its not equipped with a Mach460 of course).

You could also check your rear speakers covers. They should also have a plate that reads "Ford Mach460."

And last but not least, open your trunk, look inside, above, you should see 2 factory amps on opposite sides.

Let me know if you need me to take some pictures that pin point the exact locations of the items mentioned above.
