Default Weird Shaker 500 Audio Problem

Hello I'm new here!

I have an 07 v6 with the shaker 500 sound system.I love the car and haven't had any problems thus far with it until now.

The front bottom left sub is having issues. While I am playing music it will randomly slowly turn off, like someone is turning down just that speaker with a volume knob. Then sometime later it will slowly come back up to regular volume. The other speakers are not affected in the least bit!

It has done this at random times, with all different inputs(radio, aux, cd) and while its warm, wet, dry, and cold. I have no idea what can be causing this!

Thanks in advance!

There is a thing on the car radio called "Speed Volume", maybe that is why it is lowering and going higher..? Maybe it is somehow set to one side or speaker?? Look into that bro, to make sure.

I hope it is a simple fix, im sure it is tho.

I wish it was as simple as that I have messed around with all the settings on the system to no avail. Speed volume is off, balance is in the middle and L/R is in the middle. Bass and trebble are all the way up as usual. And I have tried moving those setting around as well.

It can happen anytime while driving. Sometimes the speaker will have no output right when I start the car up and stay off during the entire drive. Other times it will work properly for a while and you will slowly feel the pound of the bass on your leg go away. It might come back during that trip or it could wait a little longer.

Like I said it is so inconsistent! It's like someone has a volume knob for just that speaker and the will just slowly turn it down until it is off for a period of time and then turn it slowly back to normal. And it doesn't affect any other speaker or any other sound in the car except that one speaker.

I am rather baffled to say the least!

Ravenstar, its funny you say it like that.. I think i know what you are getting at.. Mine used to do that, if i had the bass n stuff up high n the music was LOUD when i shut off the car, when i turned the stang back on- it would shut off all bass and you would have to crank the knob up to get the slightest song out, no bass just words n stuff..

It would never happen during the ride, but if it did from the get go, i would have to shut off my car and give it some time.. It used to freeze too lol. All of this went away after i got my Kenwood Indash touchscreen.. Plus i can use my ipod now .. I still have my stock Shaker 500 head unit, i was thinking id miss 6cd's. NOPE i don't ever use my 1 in my new unit.. Ipod all the way man.

I have had my car for 2 years now and never had this sort of problem. Up until about 2 weeks ago I never had any audio problems. I could cut it off with the music cranked up high or down low and when I started the car again it would still be at the same volume, no problem! I have an AUX port so I can use my Ipod as well and never had any trouble out of it either.

I don't think that we have the same problem though. I never have any freezes and all my speakers work 100% fine except for that front left lower sub.

For example tonight on the way home I have about a 30 min drive home. Halfway home everything worked fine, all the speakers were working as they should be. 5 minutes later I'm cruising at 75mph and in the middle of a song that is playing I feel the sub, which is up against my pants leg, slowly get softer and softer till it is not able to be felt anymore. All of my other speakers still worked fine and there was no change in music volume other than the missing sound of that sub. That sub stays off till I am almost home and then it slowly comes back on and stays on till I cut off the car. The shaker 500 is stock in my 07 v6 and I haven't touched it since I got it.

I have to get my parking brake cable replaced Wed at my local Ford dealership(it sticks in place when it gets below freezing outside) so I am going to ask him to do a diagnostic on it or something.

Thanks for your help so far! Any other ideas or suggestions are much appreciated

you can do a self dianostic test your self!
1. turn radio on (am or fm only)
2.hold the #3 and#6 preset butons down
-this will start a speaker test, it will go throgh them all.
3.befor it finishes all the speakers push #1 perset

each # preset dose somthing diferent just go through them all and one of them will look for the radios dtc if none it will tell so

still working on what some of the other stuff can do
good luck to ya

oh yea when your done with the test turn the radio off then back on to make it work as normal!

I did what you said and went through all of the tests, there are some neat things on there, and tried to see if that helped at all. It passed the self test every time even when the speaker was off so that must mean that the signal is going out towards the speaker just not making it there.

To narrow it down I have found out that the speaker usually turns off about 5-10 minutes after I start driving down the road. If I just turn the stereo on by turning the key and not starting the car then the speaker works fine for some reason. Also if the speaker is on one of its off phases if I turn the entire stereo off then back on it will start working again for a couple minutes before slowly turning back off.

This is really weird! Thanks for all yalls help so far!
