Default 2005 Shaker 500 replacement questions.

So, I know nothing about car audio and I have some questions. What is the RMS of the Shaker 500?

I was looking at a Kenwood that has 50 x 4 watt peak (22 x 4 RMS) how does this compare to the Shaker as far as output. I understand that the quality of sould will be better with the Kenwood but I don't know how the volume will stack up.

Will there be any issues with the Kenwood working with the amps supplied for the 8" subs in the door? I want to replace the speakers too but would like to avoid replacing the amps if possible.

Can anyone help me out?

Default Replaced My Shaker 500 with a Kenwood

Don't know how much this will help, but I replaced my Shaker 500 system with a Kenwood PNAV-512 which also has a Garmin GPS system. It's all touch screen controls, and folds and neatly hides in the dash when not in use.
I decided on this system because I had one installed in another vehicle and I just love it. In the other vehicle, I also had upgraded speakers, amp, & subwoofer installed - but in the Mustang, only the unit itself. The sound is great thru the existing system
The Kenwood unit has everything you want - you can control your Ipod from the touch panel, DVD, AM/FM, XM, Sirius, Bluetooth, etc. Just depends on how much you want to connect.
I had a local Best Buy Geek Squad do the install, and they did a wonderful job.
My only decision I have to make now is whether or not to put the amp & subwoofer in the Mustang. Hmm....????
