I removed my shaker 500 hu today and i installed a sony hu with the scosche install kit and wiring harness (some wires left unhooked because there were no matching wires on the new hu ie. phone mute and un labeled brown wires). so i was driving and listening to music and realized my front speakers weren't playing, what did i do wrong?

i have tried scosche wiring harnesses before and hated them. i went to the car bay at best buy or curcuit city and got my harness there, they seemed to work musch better, in my opinion. i have installed my share of car stereos too. without actually being there and seeing, i would make just sure all the wires are connected securely and if so then just mix and match untill u get them to work. sorry i couldnt be more help.

thanks i think i figured it out, but i need some help on that, there are two blue wires on the amp harness that i can't figure out where they go, any ideas?

one should be the remote wire, tells the amp when to turn on, i spydered that into the dimmer wire on mine but u may want to get a tester and test for live wires first. to find the right wire for the remote wire turn the car off and remove the keys. then use the tester to test for a wire, if it reads that the wire is live, u dont want to use that wire or the amp will always be on. next turn the car keys over but no need to start it, if a previously "dead" wire is no live use that wire for the remote wire. the amp will turn on when the car does. as for the other, there should be the remote wire, power, ground, pos. and neg. terminals for the speakers. and thats all i have on my amp.

the harness has the rca and one blue with white stripe one blue with black stripe, could they be pos. and neg. and i just wire that right into my illumination/dimmer? just lemme know if i got that right.

the 2 blue wire sound like they should be pos. and neg. does the amp turn on when u start the car? sorry been awhile since i did my mustang.

ok so i figured it out, the blue wires go to the red ignition wire with a voltage regulator i tried the dimmer it didn't work. It works so much better and the sony system sounds amazing i only can wonder how it would sound with an alpine or bose system. and i had to go buy a metra adapter because the scosche one was malarkey.
