Default Question about theft system in Mustangs

I have no clue if Mustangs come stock with any type of security system. But i know my chime isn't working (Like when your keys are in the ignition but the door is open, it usually chimes with that annoying noise so you know your keys are still in your car's ignition) But i didn't know if V6 Mustangs (Or GTs/Cobras, etc) have a security system at all, the reason im asking is becuase if they do mine may not be working becuase the chime isnt working? Sorry kind of a ignorant question but i really have no clue!

Thats something else i believe. Mustangs, the big thing about their system is that you can not start it without a programmed key to your car. Like if i took my key, made an exact copy and tried to start my car it wouldn't start.

That's because there is a chip pre-programmed inside the key. The problem is, these keys run about $40 from the dealer(not sure on that price but somewheres close I'm sure). Anyway, if you are wanting a security system for your car, I can sell you one, we own a car electronics business. You will need to either sacrifice one of your keys or buy another from the dealership. There must be a key that is inside the car if you put an alarm on it because of the chip. We put the key hidden of course so that no one can find it and start your car.

No. The vehicle STANDARD, does not have anything else to protect your car. There are alarms and such that can be added. My dad's business deals in that, so if you are interested in buying one, let me know.

Cool man. I know how it is to get broken in to, and I tell you what, alarms make you feel a lot better about leaving your car.

Also, to correct myself from before, I don't believe you need a key to be hidden inside the car for just alarm, but if you want the remote start, then you will need the key(because you need the chip in order to start the vehicle).

Besides the key having a chip in it, there is also another item that comes stock and it is a round 1" circular key that you wave under a sensor and it also beeps when it is passed through correctly and then you are able to start the car, and the way it works is when you go out of town you install this chip that is wired to your ignition that way the only way to start your car is with this circular desingned key, and when you are at home the chip is taken out and the blank chip is put back, this system came stock on my car from the dealership, and as far as the circular key it has a wierd design on it and is hard to explain, if anyone else has one they will know what i am talking about, i also have a double click of the lock button on the remote and i get a horn honk and that also locks out the ignition, i use all of my factory alarms and my Viper System together.

my 97 gt has a factory alarm...it arms itself silently. its pretty dumb though....if i leave my windows down and try to open the door from the OUTSIDE...it does nothing...but when i try to pull the handle from the inside, the horn starts beeping and doesnt shut off til i put the key in the ignition or hit the unlock button on my keyless entry...it also has alite in the instrument cluster ( where all the "idiot lights" are) that says "alarm"...it blinks for 30 sec. or so then it just stays lit once it arms........hope i helped you guys out.
