Question Does any kind of touchscreen headunit help subwoofer?

I recently had a subwoofer installed and i was kind of disappointed by its performance. A new headunit was recommended and i began thinking about a touchscreen. Will a new headunit help at all?

Thanks

I'd say yes if you're running the stock head unit. I prefer a headunit that has a seperate output for the sub. My last head unit was like that and gave a very nice signal to my amp for the subs inturn yielding very nice bass output.

Ok thank you very much. So theoretically my subwoofer could have stronger kick?

In a word....yes.

I had a set of subs in my 99 cougar with a nice head unit that had a seperate sub output to the amp. I could feel the pound in my chest from the subs. Right now I have the same equipment in my Mustang, minus the head unit (stock head unit)and the hit is not near as strong. True it's not a hatchback, but there is still a noticable difference. Once I save up for a nice double din touch screen I'll be installing it. I listned to a guys Mustang (same year as mine)with a Pioneer HU at a stereo shop today. He's running less wattage but the signal is clean (compaired to mine on a stock head unit) and the sucker is hitting!!

Increasing the strength of the signal the amp is receiving will make a huge difference in sound.

A cheap aftermarket cd player will normally have about 2v preouts on the back, or rcas.

If your amp has been hooked up with a line out converter, the strength of the signal will be even less.

Buying a new deck with 4v preouts or higher will at least double the signal your amp is receiving and will make things alot louder.

Alright that sounds good to me. Anybody have any recommendations on brands?

I think it all depends on if you want the neighbors to wet the bed at night when you come home or if you just want some bass. Nah just kidding, I think the Pioneer stuff is what alot of people have as well as myself and I'm happy with it, I stuffed an AVIC900BT into the dash on my '92. If you aren't after navi you can get the AVIC4100 and get 7" with DVD and ipod control usually for around $500.

What are the specs on the headunit you have now and what amp/sub did you get? That would be the determining factor for me to make my decision.
