I have a rear seat delete that I built a sub enclosure into. I got mine from mustangrearseatdelete.com. It fits great and looks amazing with two tens in it.
Yes, but under the right circumstances. Your subwoofer enclosure must be built sturdy, secured down in the trunk, and have no enclosure panel flexing when the bass hits. If any of those panels flex, you will kill your amp!
Also, mounting to the enclosure does have a downside. Your sound system then becomes a 2 for 1 special if someone decides to steal it since your amplifier will be attached to the subwoofer enclosure. Time is a thief's worst enemy and I do everything I can to slow them down.
I added a rear firing 12" Kicker Comp VR, but before I did, I built a plywood wall to mount the amp to, where it would flush mount and be visible with the seat laid down. I then took a piece of paneling, covered it in the same carpet as my box, and covered the back side of the amp rack so all you see is a grey wall from inside the trunk. I plan to redo it and add a bigger amp and another sub. This is just something I threw together in a few hours one day while I was bored, but I have had alot of compliments on it and even a few guys have attempted to replicate it. Theirs didnt look as good as mine, but I used to be a carpenter, so I kinda have an advantage over a normal do-it-yourselfer! Sorry for the poor picture quality, but it is a shot of the rear passenger area with the seats laid down...

Reason: forgot to add detail
Buy a 1 farat capacitor, mount it right next to the battery, this will save you volts, keep your battery at peak give sub enough juicy for heavy loads and keep your alternator flawless. Setup will preserve your entire electrical system. I have had the same battery for 6 years now. Thats pushing 2 15" American Bass Subs with 2 80.1 amp American Bass Amps on MSD total ignition. Thats 6000 watts, glass breaking power.
