Default no replacement for shaker 1000 Subs in doors... shenanigans???

hey guys, i went to crutchfield the other day to ask them about replacement subs in the doors, they took a look, and according to them... THERE'S NO REPLACEMENTS! they got plenty of 6x8's for my convt. but no 8" subs... really confusing. it says there a 1.2 ohm speaker, and the only thing that will work is a 4 ohm dual coil that's shallow enough to fit in it, + redrilling etc etc. with how expensive crutchfield is, i think they would have a solution to this, in there computer, it even states dont even bother trying to swap them out :P the guy was just as confused as i was... any solutions to you modders out there?? btw, i got a 2005 GT convt with shaker 1000

That is why we tear Ford's equipment out and start from the beginning. Ford does weird things with their radio setups.

completely agree, but if i had a say, i would have went with the 500, just so i never had to deal with the giant subs in the doors :P

The 500 has the subs in the doors as well. I'm replacing mine with a set from onlinecarstereo.com. They carry more then Crutchfield and at a much better price. I'm also going to run seperate wire for them as well since thier ohm load will be different from the stock ones.

from what ive seen is you can take the plastic enclosure that the sub sits in...use a heat gun and heat up the plastic until its malleable then take the new sub (as long as it is close to the factory depth) and kind of reform the plastic a little.

These will fit, but you will have to heat the stock pods in one spot with a heat gun and mold them out a little: Pioneer USA - Shallow Mount

There is another company who makes direct fitting speakers, but their name escapes me right now. I'll post back if I find them.
