Shaker sound system on my 2005 GT

Im just about fed up with the quality of the sound on my 05 GT Shaker 500 system. I dont know if its the speakers, woofers, tweeters, or whatever. But the radio frequency is sh***, and the sound quality is just muffled crap compared to the stock radio system on my Toyota Yaris. I'm also longing for the AUX jack to plug in my ipod.

What needs replacing? If anything, and what other systems would you reccomend?

Replacing the speakers will make a large improvment. They are just cheapo made in China ones. There are so many Head units out there you can install. I had the stock system and replaced everything. Changed the H\U to an Alpine that has ipod controls on the front and the connector in the back out of site. I just keep the ipod in my center console.You can try crutchfield.com and go to their "outfit my vehicle" area for ideas.

Unless the shaker 500 is different in the v6 then you should have an AUX input. Mine is in the center console. I would say you probably have a grounding issue or busted speakers. My personal opinion is that the 6 disc in dash changer is pretty nice stock. I would look to switch speakers first, and do the head unit last if you still want something different.

no i dont have an aux jack because they didnt come until 2006. that much i do know!

wait i own an 06 it didnt come out till 07. Ok so replace the speakers?
That sounds like a $50 solution. Hope it works!

My Shaker 500 won't play cd's. It won't read them and ejects them as "bad discs." Has anyone had this problem.

Also, to play my Ipod I use my center console for power and use the modulator which is only as good as the radio. Can you interchange the face with the newer model to have the aux set-up?

Quite a few shakers had to be replaced due to this problem mainly in the 05's.
