Default Are my amps blown? MACH 460 Front Mids/Subwoofer or Amps not working. Please say no.

So, here's the deal. I bought a 2004 Mustang Convertible V6 Automatic last August. It's been very trusty thus far, and the head unit took a crap and died. It was a 6CD stock unit and the CD's would get jammed. So I bought a Pioneer FH-P8000BT at Christmas time. I tried to install it myself because I installed my stereo on my 2001 Ford Escort and it wasn't as hard. I completely underestimated how difficult it would be.

When I first installed it, only the front 4 speakers would work (the Tweeters and the MID/AMPS). So when the weather started getting nicer, I took out the unit and tried to fix the wires thinking it was not hooked up right, and then I hooked something up wrong because the front subs were making a horrible popping noise when I would put the top down on my car. If the top was up, then all 8 speakers worked. The stock stereo would turn the front subs off when the top was down.

I'm freaking out and hoping I didn't blow my subs or amps, because I don't want to spend the money on them! I already spend 300 on my stereo and I'm a college student!

Please let me know if anyone has had anything similar!

welcome to the wonderful world of mach audio.

one of the best factory sound systems but one of the worst to install aftermark stuff.

i too tried to do the work myself, unless you are VERY experienced in car audio, mach can be a HUGE pain in the arse.

i had the same problem you have and it was because my mach amps both had blown circuits in them.
so chances are you're going to need a new 4 channel amp if this happened to you (i did).

or you may very well have wired something up wrong.

either way i HIGHLY recommend you get a professional to at least look at it before you go any farther.

Thanks guys! I went to Crutchfield to get the correct harness etc to try one more time, and if it fails then at least when I take it into the audio shop, they'll see that I "did it right" haha.
