Default What is the small plug in the back?

I have an '08 base model stereo I just pulled out, and replaced it with a Panasonic. I got the wiring adapter I needed from Crutchfield, but it's only for the wide plug. What is the smaller plug that fits in the back of the standard stereo? My new one doesn't have a place for it...?

This is for the 2005, but I bet the basic wiring is the same for the 2008. At least it will point you in the right direction.

Ah, thanks. I bet it's for the AUX In line that sits inside my center console, for Ipods and whatnot. I wondered how that might be wired in.

Just out of curiosity, any idea what the "shield" pins are? I've never heard of that. Just in case I decide to get an adapter and wire my AUX back into my new unit, it might be good to know.

Thanks!

The shield pins are ground. Some cables are shielded to cut down on noise and interference.
