Stereo help please

Ok let me s tart off by saying I know nothing about car stereos. But just becouse I don't know about t hem doesn't mean I don't like to have clear sound nice bumps a nd so on right? So here's what I'm looking for. I would like to replace my stock speakers and add a sub or 2. So what should I be looking for? I don't want to spend too much I would like to be around the $600-$800 area. So what do you guys recommend? What else would I need to have all this running correctly? Sorry for not being very specific but like I said I'm not a stereo guy.

what do you have in there now ? is it all stock ?

As far a s the speakers yes there stock. All I've done is the in-dash TV and DVD player. Like I said I want some good speakers and subs and whatever else you guys think I need and recommend. I was also thinking about adding tweeters.

You'll need a good stereo first if you dont have one . I like jl audio subs and rockford fosgate amps . The jl 10s would be a good set for a stang . Really it all depends on what you like . Do you have a car audio store near you ? You could go there and check out the stuff for yourself and see what you like .

Yea there are tons of places around where I live but I'm just asking for peoples opinions and recomendations first.

ive got a pair of 12'' sony xplod p5's in the trunk and they SLAMMMMMM!!!!
price wasnt too bad, got them on sale for about 75 bucks a pop, i HIGHLY recommend getting the p5 amp to go with them, that way u deffinetly get the most out of ur sound. as for mid's ive got a set of 3 way 6x9's that are custom fit behind the headrest in the backseat, ill have to post a pic.
a word of advice though, you get what u pay for so its not a bad thing to dish out a little extra cash....
