Default replacing 1989 Mustang factory radio

I recently purchased an alpine radio for my 89 mustang. When you turn it on, it turns on but no sound. I have hooked up the correct wires. Any ideas as to what could be wrong? Thanks

My guess is you made the same mistake I did. Took a bit to figure it out. One of your connections is wrong on your alpine harness. The harness you have only supplies power to the unit for the lights/function, that's it. The power for your speakers is run off another seperate harness. I discarded my amp that was sitting in behind my stock factory radio on my 89 to get my new JVC to work right.

Directly in behind where the amp sat... up underneath the dash you will see another large harness with several connectors ( might be tucked up in there kind of tight)... simular to the connectors on your alpine unit. That is your speaker harness. Unplug one of those connectors on that speaker harness and unplug one off your alpine harness.(you have one wrong on your alpine harness) Plug the speaker harness connector into your alpine harness ....and voila....your wired for sound.
