I would like to keep the origional AM radio in the dash of my 66 and mount a headunit and stacker in the boot (trunk) .
After looking at the detachable face jvc unit in my wifes car I thaught it might be possible to make a cable up with male and female plugs so the face could be mounted remotely.
Has anyone else done this ???? Any thaughts?

I could be wrong...... I have been before.
actually, krankieone, it really isnt all that difficult, if u pick up a Car Audio mag you will probably see what i mean. Several people have mounted the head unit(minus the face plate) behind things such as the dash/center console and simply cut out the slot for inserting the CD...once you've found an ideal location, you can solder wires that run from the contacts on the front of the headunit to the back of the faceplate simply making the normal connections...many people make a molded piece that installs under tyhe rear view mirror, or even un the sun visor....be creative and let me know how it all turns out... good luck hope this helps.

I have a friend who has the head unit in the glove box and stacker mounted in the trunk and he uses the remote control to change CD's and radio station. Go to JB Hi Fi and tell them what you want to do. They have done them before !
