Question How do I hook up subs with factory stereo?

I got a box with two alpine 12s and a 400 watt amp. How do I get this to work in my mustang with the factory shaker 500 headunit? It has no provisions for rca output,my amp has high pass input on it. My biggest concern is how to get the remote turn on working. So anyone eho has done this any help greatly appreciated.

for the remote turn on you can use the power that turns on the radio or any other component when your car turns on.

Or the new way to cheat. Find a fuse with a pigtail that goes to something that only runs when the ignition switch is active. Man, if they had only come out with that in 1991, lol.

As for the signal, you could go with a line output converter and tap off the rear speakers (easy) or you could make a RCA connection that taps off the Shaker 500 input plug (a tad bit harder).

The above for power to the remote is what I did. Get on ebay and in the search window type in "tap a circuit". You should come across them. They basically allow you to use an existing fuse location but with an external section to tap for power.

you wont want to use the hi input on the amp. It will make the subs play the highs and burn up your voice coil(s) on the subs. Best bet would get an rca converter and tap the rear speakers then run the rca's to low input.

As for remote could just tap the fuse as stated above or run a switch for sub turn on (use them only when you want that way) just would need to tap the power wire.

you would prob be ok with 8ga wiring kit for the power and ground with only 400 watts. should be a pretty simple install.
