Default Rebuilding a sub box for dual 12s.

I got two Kicker Comp 12s in a box for $70. Not bad I thought, but the box is shot. Pin holes, no caulking, and its falling apart. Dang particle board.

So I wanna do something trick with my two 12 inch Kicker Comp 12s, they may not handle any power, but what I lost in sound I'll make up in looks.

If anyone has seen the 3G GT project, that's about what I want mine to look like. If not, here it is.

The Sub Box

The Amp Rack - Day Time

The Amp Rack - Night Time

So I was hoping someone could help guide me through all this about how to cover the box and amp rack in the foam and vinyl. The plan is to rebuild the dual sub box and tweak it alittle.

From what I've read about it, the way the amp rack cover was tucked and rolled. So I was hoping someone could guide me on how to do it.

And for the sub box, I don't want alot of slack on the corners, so can someone help me on how to make it all like one piece.

Thanks for any help.

IMHO...don't worry trying to recondition that old box. You could build a new one to exactly the size and specs it should be and you need it to be if you are up to it. Building a box is easy for people that are efficient woodworkers. If you are not then find someone who is and will help you so you can 'buy yourself some experience'.

Second option would be to buy a prefabricated enclsoure for your car...there are many available and they are good quality. Try "ProBox" or "Virtural Technologies".
Then you can customize the prefabed box by covering it in vinly, paint, etc.

If you're looking for pointers on covering or working with material...just search the web...check car audio sites...not Crutchfield. Try CarAudio.com...maybe their link page could get you somewhere.

But your chief concern should be air space...which for Kicker Comp's it should be about 1.25 to 1.50 cubic feet per sub in a sealed enclosure. If you were to go ported you would require more air space. Looking cool and sounding good should both be considered.
