I didnt really realize it until I went TDY and got a rental car..but the Nissan Altima I'm driving out here sounds worlds better then the factory system I have in my 2001GT back home!!
The bass isnt very good on it, nor is the volume. When it gets anywhere near loud, it distorts and just..does not do it for me. I have a 6 disc changer in there, it is also factory (which has it's own set of issues). I'm looking to replace it all..the head unit, the speakers, everything. Does anyone have any reccomendations / links to speakers that will work for my car?
white gt,please look at my reply in the "swapped my mach 460 speakers for pioneers" thread in this forum. i gave lots of ideas in there...good luck.

I was also unimpressed with the sound, I inserted a 12" kicker with its own 700watt amp and the sound is MUCH better

Replace the head unit in the car! thats the biggest source for distortion and lousy sound. put in an aftermarket with decent EQ abilities.
Make sure to get the harness to bypass the amplifiers or the new head unit with its wattage and the amplifyer wattage together will tear up whats left of the factory speakers in no time.

i bought a kenwood excelon head unit, but thats just me. I really enjoy the performance i get out of them, plus the mpeg color display is tight! The excelons come with fully adjustable equalization....lookin at 400+ for one of these head units however.
Im still running stock speakers, but this summer im tearing apart the doors, dynamatting and putting in some new 6x8s, haven't made up my mind wihich kind though.
