88 mustang lx. i need to remove the stock tape deck from the car to replace with a new CD player. is there a special tool to take them out. i see four tiny holes on the four corners of the stereo. if special tools are required, does anyone in mustang land know a trick to remove them without the tool?
thanks guyz, AFM rocks!! heck i dont even have to use another mustang site. AFM has everythang!
i heard that using a coat hanger and i think bending it and putting it in the holes and pry it out or i think some stores carry a tool for around $5. id suggest the coat hanger first before using the $.

Import Driver---Twas last friday night and caught at the light, Was a domestic V8 and no cops in sight, I will try, I will try, I will try with this small motor, To beat this damn Mustang, even with its juiced motor, As the light goes green and I pull like no joke, The Mustang erupts in clouds of tire smoke, Now Smasher, now Rev-ver, now Stroker, now Blitzin, These are the names of my four VTEC pistons, Racing ahead I'm the star of the action, But I know I'm in trouble when V8 gets traction, Grabbing second, I hear the RPM's sing, My mirror is blocked by my shopping kart wing, I now hear the roar of the big monster gaining, All I can do is keep my four-banger straining, In a second, the shock wave hits with a blast, And my stickers go flying now a thing of the past, Don't bother with third, cause now it's too late,
Just try to act cool, like you can even relate, Looking up at the taillights as they get smaller, The driver backs off just to give me a holler, "You can't win them all," he says in fling, "You may not win any, in that silly thing," I smiled and revved as he pulled out of sight, With my new mods tomorrow…it will be a better night.
yes, you can use a coat hager or other strong wire. bend two pieces (one for each side of the radio) and slide the 2 ends in the two holes for each side. once you are in all four holes, pull the hanger pieces away from each other ( towards the doors) the radio should pull right out. yes, you can buy the two tools at several electronic/audio stores for under $5 good luck, hope i helped you out

Kragen sells something called a DIN tool. This tool looks like two thick peices of wire bent into a horse shoe shape in which the bend is rubberized red. The two peices are connected with a small chain. Insert these tools into the four holes and pry outwards (I believe) while at the same time pulling the unit out of it's hole.
