Default Amp Sub question

Can you blow your sub or your amp if the amp is not putting out enough RMS to the sub. I was told that the sub or the amp would blow within four months if the sub was not getting enough RMS from the amp. Thanks for all you help.

My friend only had about 400 hundred dollar and brought a kicker comp that only needs like 150 to 250 rms, but the amp he brought said that he would but out about 175rms briged. Do you think that would be ok. He also got a deck and speak for that same price.

It should be ok, but very underpowered.

You really shouldn't run speakers that are rated for alot more power than your
amp produces, because you have to turn the volume up more - increasing the
chances for distortion - which is what kills speakers.
