Default Simple Problem

I'm switching the guages in my 2002 GT and I can't get the freaking headlight knob off so I can pull off the plastic. Can anyone help me out?

there is a lever on the side, pull it and the knob will slide off

on the side of what? what lever are you talking about? When i pull it out to turn on the headlights i see a small slit or opening on the knob itself but there's no clip or anything.

there is a spring clip in that"slit" you need a small screwdriver to pry it away from the post of the knob.
option #2...just pull the headlight knob right off. it WILL pull right off, i've done it with my last 2 stangs.

Alright, i got that, thanks. Now I need to tie the wires from my new gauges to the power supply for my headlights. I took the harness off of the back of the headlight switch but I'm not sure if I should tie into that or not.

I did it on my car. I bought some color white face color changing faceplates off Ebay for like $30. I tied into the two plugs on the back of the gage cluster and they work awsome. I can't remember what colors the wire are but they might be different on your car anyway. Use a voltmeter to find out which wire turns on the dash lights, then just ground it and your done. I would solder all your connections to insure a trouble free install. Good luck!
