Default AM/FM/Tape or AM/FM/Tape/CD?

How can I tell what system my mustang came with stock. Long story why I don't know, but I need to know so I can buy the right harness adaptor. Car has no CD player left and two wires hanging out of the hole, one of which is cut. The speakers have Ford Premium Sound written on the magnet.

What I need to know is if you guys can help me figure out whether this thing came with AM/FM/Tape or AM/FM/Tape/Cd Player.

Car is a 1993 LX 4-Cyl Hatch.

Thanks in advance...

I'm not a betting man, but if I were......not too many cars were built from the factory in 1992-3 that were stocker with a CD player, specially a 4 cyl (no offense).

I have a AM-FM-Cassette player (stock) for a '92 Ranger. What size is the hole for your radio? Betcha mine would fit, if that is what you wanna ultimately do. I could be convinced very easily to let it go at a very reasonable price. Works great, or at least it did when I took it out. If you are interested, send me a PM with your email address. I could email a picture of the radio with dimensions.

Was there an option with only AM/FM? Because the guy at crutchfield said three different things and had me completely confused:

One time he asked:
Does it have AM/FM/Tape -or- AM/FM/Tape/CD

And another time he asked:
Does it have AM/FM -or- AM/FM/Tape

LOL, so what were the options available for 93 Mustangs?

Ok, here's the deal. In 1993 Ford put AM/FM/CD on the options list. The other option was AM/FM/Tape. That was on the GT. 93 was the first year for it, and I am not positive, but I do not think that any LX got that option. That would include 4 bangers. Even if they did, however, it is HIGHLY unlikely that your car had a cd player because few were made with cd players in 1993. Good Luck

Yes, there was an AM/FM only option. However, it may have been the option for your '93 four banger. Remember, 4 cyl are econo class rides, especially in '93. Any options were few and far between.

Check out Ford websites and see if you can find an owner's manual for that vehicle.

If I can find it, I will post an address where this manual can be downloaded for free....just have your VIN handy.

Kay, here it is. Just have your VIN handy, and you should be able to download owner's manuals for all of your Ford products.

I do believe I have seen a 90s car in the past with a cd player in the dash that was ford stock. It was below the main radio. I am not sure if it was a custom install or if it was really one that they offered?
