Looking for aftermarket device to turn off airbag 1995 Mustang
I was wondering if there was a device to turn off the airbag on a 1995 mustang....i dont know if i can find one aftermarket, or if its possible if the ford company would be able to install one. If anyone knows a way to find one or if i could get one from ford, please tell me...THANKS
Secondly, permanently turn it off, or occasionally?
The device is controlled by electricity, so a simple toggle switch from Wally World would work. Best do disconnect the battery before attempting the install....in case you accidently short the wires.

As to why, well i have a 2 year old, with another one on the way....really dont want to get rid of the car because alot of money has already been put into restoring it back to what its supposed to be, and i only want to do it for a bit until i can get the seat out of the front and into the back...but thank you for the reply.

But they shouldn't be in the front seat to begin with. Why not put them in the back?

the 2 year old is in the back....and we might be able to put the baby in the back...but think...how much backseat does a mustang have...NOT THAT MUCH....i'm just exploring all options right now...so i was wondering if there was a way that it could be done...
you could probably have it done with a custom burned chip. but i don't know if any places will do it. that might be illegal. if your car is factory equipped with airbags, they are all supposed to be functional (but gm does offer an on/off switch that can be switched by using the ignition key).

Yeah I doubt its legal to mess with, but I think that the toggle switch would work. You would have to be very careful though, if that thing went off with the baby there...... that would be a horror story on the news... sorry not tryin to be sick or pessimistic or anything, just saying that you should be very careful. I dont think I would mess with it.

Ford also has such a switch. I have one on my '99 Ranger.
However, as stated above, the kids should be in the back seat....not the front....until they are old enough to be outa the car seats.
