Fayetteville, NC installer praise... Not sure if anyone will find this information useful, but I feel like I have to post it because of the help this guy gave me.
I bought my 98 GT Vert in October and I guess the previous owner had half-ass hooked up the Clarion head unit to the speakers after removing whatever aftermarket amps and whatnot they had in it. My car has Mach 460 pods on the doors so I guessed that it (at one time) had Mach460 stock system.
Basically, it sounded like complete crap when I bought it. It was all treble and nothing more. Absolutely nothing down low.
I took my car to Frank Allison here in Fayetteville and he told me he'd look at it and check it out. He had me go get some harness adapter thing from a local shop and then spent no less than three hours diagnosing and troubleshooting my car trying to get the factory system working.
I knew this guy is good. I've seen work he had done on my friend's Integra and it was seamlessly beautiful as to fit-and-finish installation. Frank has 30+ years experience in audio/security systems. I was happy he took the time to look at my car.
Long story short, after probing circuit boards on one of my amps he said that it might have a bad output on it. He said he'd put it back together with the new harness so I'd at least have one set of woofers firing (the left side low-end wasn't firing after he installed the harness adapter which was still tons better sounding than all that trebly crap the speakers were spewing before).
He hooked everything back up and checked it. For some strange reason it was working on both sides after he hooked it back up. May be a fractured connection in the harness from the previous owner's installation of aftermarket stuff. Anyway, my car sounds waaaay better than it sounded before today.
The kicker: The charge for the three hours of diagnostic work and troubleshooting my car....$20. No ****...$20. I was very appreciative that this guy took the time to look at my car and even more pleased that he got it working. I was fully prepared to pay this guy $150+ for his time and work.
Bottom line....I got a good deal from him because he decided to help me out. He obviously knows his stuff when it comes to audio related installation. His work is top notch.
