Any ideas on putting in a subwoofer (minimum 12 inch sub) such as premade boxed subwoofers? I dont plan on going custom, but i am thinking about putting in my single Polk 12 inch sub (
Polk Audio DXi 112 Ported enclosure with one 12" DXi Series subwoofer at Crutchfield.com ) into the trunk of my 91 Vert and I ended up doing it last night as a test to see if it fits and what i would need to do. What I ended up doing was removing the spare tire so I can use the well for that Polk sub. I also had to pry off that spare tire hold down bracket in the bottom of the spare tire well so the sub box could fit flusher with the trunk bottom (even though its not all that flush, but it is better)...it looks like i will need to fab/buy an "L" bracket to secure the box and to keep it from rocking. I really dont want to drill into the box, so im also thinking about using ratchet tie down straps to hold down the sub, so i am seeing about adding bolts with an eyelet to attach the straps. Now, does the bottom of the well get damp or wet because i plan on letting the box sit directly on the trunk bottom? if so, i can spray on some protectant or something.
When the box is in there and secure, i would like to take a jig saw to the spare tire board so the box can go directly in the cutout and hide the well, then cut the trunk bottom carpet so it goes around the box as well...this is so it can look somewhat clean...
I also understand a spare tire is important, but this is not my DD at all, and im willing to take that chance

all in the name of lumbar support
I guess this will be a work in progress, so ill post pics and stuff as this simple sub setup makes its way into the back of my shoebox sized trunk! Note that I needed to disengage the trunk so I could gain more access as well as the trunk lock hinge (the hinge was re-installed after i set the box in the trunk, its a bonus because it makes it more secure)
ill let you know how it goes...
