Default Satellite Radio Question - Shaker 500

Ordered/Bought a 05 convert last week and love it. New to the Ford family (former chevy impala man).

Ford was supposed to have some agreement with Sirius radio for 05 models to be Sirius satellite ready. I get the Shaker 500 but being told by Ford parts guy that the Sirius connection kit does not work for the Shaker 500. The unit has a 10 pin plugin and it does have AUX. Does anyone know if the AUX will serve as the Sirius plug?

Any info on what Ford unit will drive the speaker system in the Stang and be sat radio ready ?

I really love my Sirius and would like to add to the new pony.

Thanks for your suggestions and comments !

do you want to keep the factory head unit? if the factory head unit has an AUX or even better, an INPUT point you'll be able to plug into it. Im not sure if the satellite cable will match the input but im sure that there is an adapter on the market somewhere. Is it the shaker 500 thats sirius ready or the low ballin' stereo?
You could also buy an FM modulator to get the sirius but then you have to deal with another electronic piece on the dash....plus FM modulation tends to deliver alot of distortion at higher decibel.

bgt, it is the Shaker 500 and it does not have any SAT or satellite buttons on it. It does have an AUX button and according to the Ford parts guy, the back has a port for a plug in of some kind.

The reason I ask about the AUX being able to recieve Satellit signals is because the signal is decoded by the Sirius (or XM) box. The radio signal is sent from that box to the head unit.

Also I installed a factory system (Chrysler) on my wife's Liberty and itworks great. Just anxious to know about the Shaker.

Is there a Ford 1-800 number I could call and find out ?

Thanks.

There are a lot of threads on this subject here at AFM and others. It seems the FM modulator is the best bet for right now. Ford has plans to put the Sirius radio in Mustangs for late in '06 if not until '07. Don't know why the wait. Delphi is the maker of our radios, but they do not seem to have any info on the their web site. The AUX is part of the Blutooth connection for cell phone connection I believe. Many have tried to decipher all the inputs and outputs of these radios. I am not real pleased with the Shaker 500/1000 systems. They have a decent sound, but could be improved upon. Ditto on the Chrysler systems...my wifes new '05 Jeep GC has Sirius from the factory. I don't understand Ford's failure to give us the option now. Time and tinkering will tell if someone breaks the code on these radios. For now, FM modulators are the stop gap fix.

Angry Manufacturer response about "AUX" button

Thank you for contacting delphi.com.

The radio we produce for Ford Motor Company is designed specifically for that particular vehicle. It is designed to communicate on a proprietary
communications data bus with other Ford factory installed audio devices.
Connecting other devices into the radio's auxiliary input will not work due to a lack of communications on the factory audio data bus. A data bus is an electrical circuit in which messages are transmitted and received between electronic components. Data busses can be very generic, as in the PC (Personal Computer) market or very manufacturer specific, as in the automotive electronics market.

Sincerely,
delphi.com Customer Service

Original Inquiry:
----------------------------------------------------

I purchased a 2005 Ford Mustang with the Shaker 500 radio. I contacted the dealer about the purpose of the "AUX" button on the radio and they had no idea what it was for. Can you tell me the purpose and if I can hook up a satellite radio receiver to work for this button. Can you send me the wiring diagram if possible.

There will soon be a adapter that plugs into the radio and you will use the AUX button. My supplier has the module but there still waiting on the wire harness.

So when we get a module and wiring harness and theAUX works, what then? Do we have to run "X" wires back behind the radio for the AUX optional equipment to work? Where would we plug in our AUX component?
