Default radio help please

I'm tryin to help a friend hes the mustang owner and his problem is this. He had a headunit installed and and amp it worked fine for awhile but since the installer only twisted the wires together and then used black tape the worked them self loose and shorted out. Now he has no radio. I offered to lend him my alpine head unit. When i hooked it up no sound played. So i started testing differnt things and found the unit works and plays across my loose old speakers using jumper wires from the unit to the speaker teminal. His speakers also work using the same technigue. ANY IDEAS WHY? someone suggested it might have a component system that is trip or something like that. any help would be greatly appercatied. Otherwise im gonna run new speaker wires. thanks

Make sure the amp is getting power and that the fuse on the power line and amp is not blown. Most new amps today have one or two fuses (sometimes more) that will blow before the amp gets fried. Wire the components to the head unit to check those are still working.

Id check the fuses on the amp as well as the radio circuit fuse for the vehicle in the fuse box. IF the wires worked themselves loose they probably grounded out somewhere. Also, check the ground wire on the head unit.

In addition to the other advise, you may have an open in your speaker wires...although the first advise sounds more plausable.

I just bought a 2002 Mustang and I need to replace the radio fuse, but I can't find it. Do you have any suggestions for a first time rider?

check your owners manual for its location. Its either gonna be under the hood on the circuit box or in my 98 located on the left side of the dash board. can only get to it when the driver door is open
