Default '98 double deck headunit help

alright, ya know how stock headunit is like 2 units, the top cassette/radio and the bottom cd player. if i replace the top with a cd player/radio aftermarket one like alpine, clarion etc. can i replace the bottom with a small cubby hole type thing? i looked at the scosche website cuz i know they have pretty good cd player dash kits.

you probably could, but it might look a little strange. In the foxes they used to have those little cubbys stock.

you can definitely replace the bottom cd player with whatever you want. The player plugs into the factory unit which obviously does exist anymore. IF you find a cubby hole let everyone know!!!

Here is what I did to my 98 mustang.

I just put a in dash DVD nav unit in. Since I am a little of a car audio freak I had some spare parts from old in dash units. I went to Lowes got some plexy and attached the plexy cut the same size as a in dash unit to the slide tray of an old dash unit ( You know the metal rectangle piece that you slide the head unit in to lock it in place ) I then painted it all to match the interior. I use this plate to house my Dvd switch, underglow lights and interior neons. Looks sweet. Total project cost was about $15 for me but I still had the paint and primer hanging out to from the interior highlighting project I did prior. I hope this helps

Go to the Ford dealer and get a pocket that came with the factory "Low Budget" Factory System (It only had one piece). That's what I did and it was $24.00 I think. Hell, it even comes with a cool rubber pad lining the bottom of it to keep stuff from sliding around. If you really need, I think I even have the box it came in with the Ford PN on it.
