I got the Pioneer AVIC-D1 with XM and iPod adapter installed today at the Kustom Kar Sound in Mesa. They did a superb job. They ran in to a few hitches but the guy that did the install was top notch and overcame. I'm very pleased. One of the problems they had is that they thought I had a Shaker 1000. I actually had a Shaker 500 which I guess has different connectors for the subwoofers. They made a couple calls and basically what they got was "We don't know but we're sure you'll figure it out and let us know what you did". And they did!
After they got the GPS calibrated and was just about finished the dash board lights started flashing a code. They thought it had to do with the Code Alert alarm the dealer put on and I even went so far as to call the dealership so I could take it in for service. At the last minute the install guys said to wait because they might know what it is. It had something to do with the speedometer voltage regulator or some other technical thing I didn't understand. He said he'd seen it on a F-150 once but never on a car. Mine is the first 2005 Mustang they'd installed a Nav system in.
The only problem I have, and it's not their fault, is that the Pioneer GEX-P10XMT units they had in stock had to be sent back to Pioneer because the protocol they use didn't match the AVIC-D1 head unit so they had to use the XMD1000 XM tuner. They are suppose to get the correct ones in about a month so I'm thinking of going back when they get them in. It allows realtime traffic notifications on the Nav and adds some functionality to the XM display.
I can't thank you enough for recommending them. I'll post some pics in a day or so. |
