Just recently bought a 99 v6 3.8 coupe from a private seller, he lost his remote so i went ahead and ordered a couple ford remotes from the dealership.

After receiving em, all 4 of the buttons work including the panic button but it seems like my factory alarm is not activated... is there neway for me to either activate it or even make sure theres an alarm.

Factory alarm will do for now, its better than no alarm. Thanks

I had a 2000 v6 briefly and ran across the same thing as you, private seller, the whole bit. I didn't really care one way or the other about it though so, I never looked any further into it. I sold it for a profit to get the 02gt

You should look on the door jam. On my 02gt it says factory security system or some such phrase indicating that there is an alarm included.
