Default Remote starter and Active Alarm not Compatible

Just got back from Ford service. They tell me that the remote starter(dealer installed) does not work with the Active Alarm system which was factory installed. The new key fob for the remote starter doesn't arm the system. The original fobs do work. They told me they were on the phone with Ford and they are looking into the problem. I can't believe this is the first 05 Mustang with Active alarm and remote starter systems. Anyone out there have this configuration? I'm told Ford will have an answer in 2 weeks.

Thanks

I want a remote starter. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what you find out. Let's hope it's just that your service department doesn't know what they are talking about.

Why would anyone want to start thier engine so that it could idle? Nothing is worse for your engine than letting it run to heat by idle...especially when the rings haven't been seated yet. Pre oilers...and preheaters...yeah...I can understand those but a remote starter? yeah....yeah...I need

Let's see. 104 degrees outside here in Texas. Well over that in the car. Push a button and cool the ride. Sounds good to me!

I just receieved my new '08 GT Coupe that was ordered in mid August last Friday. I ordered it with the PowerCode remote starter system expecting the remote start feature included in the key fob. Very disappointed when car came with 2 fobs. I see accessory 7L2Z-19G365-AA in Ford part book but parts manager cannot tell me if it will work with the car nor are there any online instructions available to read how to program the remote to include the starter.

Jkeng is this the fob you were trying to use? Did you program it yourself?

As far as remote starter is concerned, I live in Kansas. Winters are cold, summers are hot. After first snow and salt goes down Mustang's are not driven until spring. To see why I want starter for summer use go to web site Twister Special Registry, click on "2008 Twister Special" button then look at the sales brochure. My new one is a coupe with the glassback roof. And yes, this is my web site created December 2005 to letthe rest of the Mustang world know more about the limited production Twister's. I purchased my first one when I was 20 years old.

Will be watching posts very closely to see Ford's answer.

I don't think you'll be hearing from Jkeng... He hasn't been on since Jul 05.

there should be a factory arm and disarm wire for an aftermarket alarm to hook up to. last time i checked the wire diagrams, there were those wires. when i buy and install my viper remote start, i will be using the factory active alarm and the viper alarm in unison. if you have a good installer, then using the factory alarm in most cases shouldnt be a problem

After checking around with a few Ford parts guys I know, it looks as if Ford accessory part number 7L2Z-19G365-AA should work with the factory installed Active Anti-Theft and factory installed Remote Starter systems. The parts manual shows use for only 2007 and 2008 cars though. My jobber price was 25.56 so I ordered one fob. When it comes in I will take a trip to KC, MO. where my cars are and install the new fob. Will post results after the testing.
