Default What subwoofers sound the best in 96-99 mustangs?

I own a 97 gt and i am getting ready to put my system in. I have a JL Audio 15 inch W3 and a pretty large box(takes up whole trunk). Now i am basically wondering if anyone has any suggestions about what size subwoofers produce the deepest loudest bass in the gt trunk. I love loud bass but i want clarity as well, i hate the distorted rattle that most loud systems have. My question is should i keep the 15 inch sub or trade it for 2 12 inch subs of equal quality?

I have two Jl Audio 10' W0's powered by a 500/3 jl audio amp. The thing pounds pretty damn hard in my car. I m waiting to upgrade to 10w6's here in the future when these ones crap out on me.

All you need is 2 decent 10s in a sealed box facing toward the back for nice tight accurate bass.

Personally, I would keep the 15W3 ( helluvasub ) , make sure its in the right box (around 2.25 - 2.5 cubic feet sealed) and hit that sucker with a good Class D subwoofer amp, like a JL 500/1 or more. That sub CAN handle some power. Get it up under the rear deck and fire it BACK. An enclosure with the proper airspace for that particular sub will be too big to go anywhere else. Don't be afraid to hit that puppy with alot of power, it will handle it. With the excursion capabilities of that sub and alot of power... that thing will rattle your sphincter like you won't believe

and remember Jl Audio is one of those companies the underrates their equipment so their 300w subs can handle 500w easilly.

yeah I agree. I would hit it with 500W at the VERY least. but then again I wouldn't hesitate to nail it with 1000W without batting an eye.... just as long as its a CLEAN 1000W. Not some amp that claims it. Check RMS ratings at 12 volts, not 14.2 or whatever. Don't forget that it takes power to make power. Even with the high efficiency of a Class D amp, it's gonna put a strain on your electrical system. A nice 600W Class D amp with a 1 farad capacitor will do the trick. Any more and I would look into getting a Powermaster Alternator with at least 200 amps. But I think you will be happy with about 600W on that sub. It might not sound like much considering whats out there, but trust me... it will put a smile on your face
