Albirea...YOU ARE THE MAN! I installed my FRD04-AUX today with your guide at my side the entire time. Step by step, you guided me through the install & everything went perfectly! I had no idea my iPod could sound this GREAT on the road!

THANKS!

Default Nice Guide

This is a great guide. I'm sure that I'll have no problems putting this in my GT when I get back home in March. Thanks a lot Jeff...

You're welcome! Just reading one post like this makes it all worth it. If I can help one person do this I'm happy!
So, I'm happy!
Thanks for the kudos, I just got back from my first service visit and it didn't go well (I posted in the lounge about it), and this picked up my spirits...

There are so many good folks here helping me, it's nice to have something to give back.

I should have come up with a better username, this one I've used for years sucks. (the explanation is in the thread about what usernames mean - essentially it's a pretty double star in the sky, but it's hard for anyone to remember). My license plate is Joe's GT. Should have gone with that one!

I love my Ipod, and use it ALL THE TIME in baby. I have nearly two hours of bumper to bumper commute eash day and it's a life saver. Now if there were such a thing as a allfordmustang's Podcast!!

Joe

Thanks albireo! I installed my FRD04-AUX today in about 90 minutes (including breaks to warm my hands). I struggled a little getting the radio mounted back into position but not too bad. I am not sure I would have had the guts to tackle this myself if you hadn't shown me the way. Thanks again!

Default Idiot's Guide to Ipod AUX adaptor

Due to popular request, I am reposting this beacuse the original got lost here and the moderator wanted to turn it into a sticky. That would be good for me as I wouldn't have to write so many seperate replies to people!
I wrote the original article because I'm "mechanically challenged" and I was scared to death to ruin my new 06 GT... I was encouraged by a few people to give it a shot and I carefully installed it. I took pictures as I went and turned it into a "Idiot's Guide" to help other people like I was that were too chicken to hurt their baby...
Here's a link to the complete article I wrote.
Joe's Comcast Site - Mustang Interface
I hope it helps people!

Just ran into this post today and thought I'd add to it. I did this for my 2003 and the install was very similar. Of what I can tell the only difference is that I ran the cable from the adapter through the center console and up through the center glove box. From there I use a Belkin auto kit so that I can get power to the ipod. The sound comes out of the Belkin auto kit through an 1/8" plug. So instead of coming out of the top of your ipod through the head phone jack, you plug your ipod in from the bottom and sound gets delivered as well as your ipod charges at the same time. All can be hidden in the center glove box if desired when leaving the car unattended.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for all the nice emails I've gotten over the last year thanking me for doing this article. It's REALLY great to hear from people who have followed the article and shared their success and makes me glad I put the effort into making it so detailed.
Thanks!

Joe

GreenStang511:

What auxillary adapter did you use for your 2003? I have a 2000 GT. Crutchfield says the FRD04-Aux only fits models 2005 and newer.

I have a FRD04-Aux I removed when I changed my Shaker head unit. Workes fine, PM if interested.
