Well, I FINALLY have my Idiot's guide ready to go again after mysteruiously dissappearing here a number of weeks back. For all of you that have PM/Emailed me, SO SORRY for the delay! This time I have built the whole thing up again from scratch and put it in web page format.
Hopefully now that it's on my web site it will be easier to use. I have larger pictures in the guide and each has a link to a larger picture.
Once again, this is the definitive IDIOT'S guide to getting your Shaker head out or installing the FRD04-AUX adaptor in the 05-06 Mustangs. If you are already familiar with doing it, no need to look here!
I hope this is helpful for those of us who need it, as it's taken me a tremendous amount of hours getting it all going right - especially now that I had to rebuild it from scratch!
Here it is: Joe's - Mustang Interface
Somebody in the last thread (that was deleted) mentioned about some Radio Shack wire tap thingy that allows you to connect the power wires with no soldering. I would prefer to use that instead of soldering. Can anybody remember the part #?
You know, I never had to solder those wires together. A stripping of the existing cable, tied it up, and electrical taped it back together again. Looks like exactly what the Ford techs would have done! Haha.

Where does the wire come out of the console and is it long enough to keep your ipod stored in the center compartment?

Well the electrical wire leads right up behind the top of the center faceplate above the radio. If you want, there's also a power point inside the console that has wires running to it, however I'm not sure if that's a switched power source or not.
I personally have my iPod in the forward cupholder. Gotta be able to see it to change songs!

Are you talking about the inline wire connectors? they can be bought at any local wal-mart, radio shack, target, automotive stores. no real specific brand although they do come in 3 sizes. Yellow, red and blue.
Yes, if you buy a new device you should get one with an updated chip. The problem is that if you buy one from someone that has old stock you'll risk the chance of getting an old one.
The wires aren't long enough. If you want wires going out to the center console you'll need to put some length on them.

The Radio Shack catalog number is: 64-3053 for the 18-22 gauge Wire Tap-In Squeeze Connectors (7-pack) and 64-3052 for the 18-14 gauge (10-pack)

This is great...this is exactly the question I was hoping to find the answer to when I found this site.
What should I expect to pay for a FRD04-AUX? I've found a couple of places selling it for $90. That sound right?
Also, is there something missing? I need something else to connect the FRD04-AUX to my Ipod, right?
Yep..$90 is the right price. I bought mine from Log Jam Electronics.
The FRD04-AUX has two 1/4" RCA input jacks (L and R) so you will need a 1/8" Stereo Mini Plug (for the iPod headphone jack output) to two RCA Plug adapter cable. I found a Monster 7ft iCable on eBay for $15.
I plan on installing my FRD04-AUX this weekend. I'll be running the iCable under the center console and into my center compartment. I'll plug the 1/8" plug end of the iCable into the base of a Belkin Part # F8V7058-APL iPod auto charger and the Belkin charger will then connect to the dock connector on my iPod.
But, all you really need in addition to the FRD04-AUX is a (2) RCA plug to (1) 1/8" Stereo plug adapter cable.
