Default speakers and a new head unit.

i have a 94 vert and it is completly stock. i want to upgrade the sound system so i was wondering if i got all new speakers if i have to buy an amp for the new speakers. i dont know much about audio so i could use some advice. thanx.

if ur talking about interior speakers then no... if u buy a new head unit it will amp it automatically for the 4 interior speakers. I got a 96 convertable and I put two pioneers in the back interior cause i blew the ones in my car. I also saw u wanted to put subs in ur convertable too, I put two 12s in my trunk. it was hard though. you need to take out all of ur paneling in the trunk and it takes up the entire trunk. My amp went where the spare tire was. i think if u take the backseat out and take out the hydrolic pump for the top, u can put in the subs from the backside also (i think, ive never done it tho). My set up isnt too good but with a convertable theres not much to do. theres not much room.
