I am being told when this message is displayed "CD ERROR" it is time to replace the stereo. I was ejecting a cd and the unit locked up and displayed the error message.
I am hoping that there is a way to release the cd>>>
When will ford learn to put decent audio equipment in their cars? I had the shaker 1000 and was seriodly disapointed. I pulled it out a the first opportunity and fitted a pioneer AVIC D3 satnav/mp3/etc (awesome)
I think you need to rip that shaker out and go with an aftermarket unit if you want trouble-free operation.
Howdy, boys! My fiance and I have a Shaker 500, too, in our 2006 GT. Thing has never liked burned CDs, but they've always been done in the audio CD format.
Now we've tried MP3 cds, and it skips like crazy. I've been burning onto HP CD-Rs. We tried different burning speeds, I'm sure I'm finishing the 'session' when I burn, etc.
It looks like Memorex CDs seem to possibly work, so we'll probably try that next. Does it really come down to the brand of CD you use? Come on, Ford, get it together!!
I have been using Maxell CD-R music cds. They allways play. The problem is I have over 100 songs on a disc and only 56 will play. They are all in Mp3 format. I play the same CD in my 2006 Mountaineer and 100+ songs (all play). I use an extenal hard drive that stores my music and use windows media player to burn them.
I might note that one of the cds I made has 141 songs on it and they all play in my mustang. Odd!?
is there a limit on how many songs that may play?
no matter how i arrange the songs to burn, the car always arranges them in it's own way. It uses folder then track.
My 2006 GT has not (yet) had a problem with burned media. My current "jukebox" MP3 has 80 tracks and plays all tracks. I think it is a Maxell disc, or perhaps even Office Depot.
I was getting a bad disc error for a while when I had a spare on my car, I figured it was from the vibrations caused by the spare that are causing the laser to skip and misread the disc, once I replaced the spare with a brand new tire it was fine again, I haven't had a bad disc error since.

That's why you put the MP3s in separate folders, that way you can just browse to the folder with the song and it shouldn't be hard to find. Although it's probably easier for me, I never download individual songs, if I'm getting a song I want the full album. If I'm burning an MP3 CD it'll be a disc with 6 or 7 full albums on it all in the same genre, not a collection of random songs. I've got a disc for punk, techno, metal and industrial although I generally save them for long drives though. I prefer the quality of a store bought disc, plus with my techno CD one of the albums has a noticeable pause between the music because the songs are meant to blend into each other, it's a bit annoying and if I found a copy of that album in the store I'd buy it.
Hi. I am new to this forum and it looks like a great place for info.
I just bought an 07 convertible with the V6. It has the Shaker500 sound system and the first two CD's that I burned with Windows Vista burning wizard did not work. When I put the disk in the player it gave me the bad disk error. l did a Google search and that is how I found this forum. So any way after reading a few post I used my Nero and slowed the write speed down to 24X, Made sure the multisession was off and it worked fine. I am using some off brand CD's. When I am ready to burn more I'll post the results here. Since I have only had one work, It could be luck of the draw.
Just burned another MP3 CD using Nero and it worked just fine. I Burned it at 48X this time. May be just luck I don't know. But I honestly think it boils down to the way the CD's are Burned.
Can you nest folders on a CD? Something like Artist\Album\Song.mp3 ?
I'm flying down to pick up my 06 GT this Friday then driving back up to NoCal. I have about a 6 hour drive and would like to take some burned discs with me.
I burned a cd and made two folders. named them one and two. I did not put any songs any where but in the folders. it played them fine. I use nero to burn the cd's just as the ones before. it reads f001 or f002 depending on what folder it's in so the display looks like this. F- 001 T-003 then the song title. so that is what I have discovered.
