I have had problems from day one trying to play burned CD's in my '05 system. The player just spits them back out and reads, "Bad Disc!" I can play the exact same CD in other players, including my '03 F-150! So frustrating! I have read that others have had the same trouble. Does anyone know if they have made any changes to the system since the '05's? I just ordered an '07 and am thinking about possibly doing a delete on the Shaker if this problem still exists! I mean, does anyone really buy CD's anymore? It is imperative to be able to play burned CD's these days! Come on Ford! Any answers would be greatly appreciated!
it could possibly be something with the way your burning them. i use nero pro...and right when the cd was done i would open the tray and sometimes the disc would play and sometimes it wouldnt. now when its done i hit the "done" button and it spits out the cd, and i havent had a problem since. weird i know. take what you can from that jargon. what software do you use?
I've had some trouble with home made CD's, as well. They'd play, but after a few songs they started to skip. Started burning MP3 CD's, and no problem with them. Fits 10X as many songs, anyway.
Yea, i get bored with mp4 cds though. you have to rename files and such to get them in the right order. then if you want to hear a specific song you have to go through 100 songs just to get to it. but i download a lot a lot a lot of music.
Make sure when your burn them you finalize them, which means you can no longer burn to them, some players will not work unless this is done. make sure it is not a multisession, which means you can burn to them again.

Thank you for all the help! I am going to try burning again and finalizing it when it's done! Not sure if I did that or not! I burned onto an HP CD-R using iTunes...Like I said, the disc plays just fine in everyone elses players! Any other thoughts/tips would be great!
I've burned 4 MP3 discs the same way onto Memorex CD-R, 700Mb, Dark blue text on white, sn start with 2SE and had varying results. All were burned by copying the files to a separate folder, clearing out the Windows files, converting from wma files (if necessary) and then using right click and 'send to' my CD. Choose 'Close the wizard after...', 'make data cd' and do not choose 'HighMAT compatible'.
One of the CDs always loads. One other never loads. The other two will often fail, but will load if I'm persistent.
Burning music CDs (not mp3 files) onto the same Memorex discs has always worked come load time.
Mine is a 2006 Shaker 500

I have inconsistant luck too... I was wondering if the number of songs might be the problem. I have a CD with 135 mp3s, works fine. I have a cd w/ 175 mp3s, sometimes it plays sometimes it doesn't. Usually gets about half way through, but if I use the skip button, all bets are off... nothing is playing after that. I have an 05 Shaker 1k if anyone knows the secret voodoo cruse

I too was having fits getting my "homemade" mp3 disks to play. The shaker would reject a disk many times before deciding to play it.
I tried different brands of disks with no luck. These "Bad Disks" would play in other players with no trouble.
Finally tried burning with a different CD drive. Problem was solved.
My guess is that the Shaker (500 & probably the 1000) is a little sensitive to the disk and must have things "just right".
Others have solved this problem by installing an aftermarket unit (too much trouble for me).
Since changing CD burners I've had very little trouble.
There's little better than cruising with the top down and "Mick and the boys" or "Jimi" wailing away.
yes i would say the shaker is a little choosey on the CD's it plays. but i havent had problems with any mp3 or audio cd's lately. as stated above, MAKE SURE TO FINALIZE and i forgot about the multi session. if u have more problems burning cd's PM me.
So far, I haven't had trouble with burned discs, either mp3 or music CDs. There is a thread in the forum about how to check your shaker to see if it is the good one (has the less picky software).
I have the Shaker 500 also, and let me just say that it is finicky with lots of cds. Burns especially but I have literally gone to best buy, purchased a cd, walked out to my car, put it in and had it skip and error out on the 2nd track.
Just yesterday I had the stereo replaced under warranty and it still is finicky with a variety of cd's and doesn't have gapless playback which is a real pain with albums that are supposed to flow through one track to the other.
I am now looking at aftermarket options that will fit well and not look crappy with big gaps. Ipod or aux input wouldn't hurt either. Any suggestions?
