Has anyone found a replacement door woofer for the 05+? From some of the research I have done it appears the indoor subs are 8" and only 3" deep which is a tough nut to crack if you are looking at replacing them and not cutting holes or getting creative with the door panel trim. The only sub I have found so far that looks like it would work is the Pioneer TS-SW841D. Pioneer Electronics - Sound. Vision. Soul
Anyone used these or found something better that fits?

I am very interested in those speakers, also. The factory door bass units are the only stock speakers I haven't replaced yet. Needless to say they are the weak spot now. They are tuned, similar to what Bose does. They have a chamber running thru the length of the bottom of the door. Anyway.......uh
Bump.

I saw a Stang, in the shop I got my sytem, with JL audios on the door it didn't look like they had to modify anything to make them fit. I think they were the "older" W3 model.
I don't remember what all make and model numbers do fit with out any modification, with minimal modification, etc. , but search around on TMS. There are a ton of threads there on the subject.
When I gutted and replaced mine I put in a set of MTX T4508-4s. Very slight modification to make them work. Only place that it hit was on the magnet. Wasn't too bad to get worked out. I heated the door panel with a heat gun and then "form fitted" the speaker.

Performance mods: Lets just say it's not stock.
Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
But I think they were like ~$100 NEW at etronics.com
They don't sound like they're over-extending like the stockers. I bridged the stock amp to power them. No modificatons needed to the doors, but I would like to get the stock speaker covers back on.
I was not all that impressed at first because they need more power than the stockers.
However; replacing the head unit made a huge difference in the performance of the ssmb 8's.
I now don't feel the immediate need to get an aftermarket amp like I did before the new head unit.

Check out Crutchfield or any other big name stereo supplier and they sell it.
It reduces vibration and rattling. Also helps to project the sound.
When you do it right - you use dynamat.
Well worth the added expense!
Yeah, this coming from a guy who parks his car all winter
trust him, I picture him sitting in it in January with the radio blasting pretending he's driving

You're too funny!
What does that have to do with the facts of speaker fitment and dynamat?

Spoke to some guys at the local audio store and they said they installed the Pioneers with no modifications to the doors. I just got mine in yesterday and will see if they were right this weekend. Will let you know how it turns out.

Question from a non stereo expert, when you upgrade the door speakers will that make something in the door squeak or rattle that didn"t with the stock speakers?
