Exclamation Help! Mach 460 bass waivers in and out?

I sort of have a unique problem that I can't seem to figure out.
2002 mustang GT
Mach 460 (I believe) has 6 cd in dash changer, and some amps in the trunk.
I have noticed that sometimes while I am driving the sound of my system goes from normal to very bassey and rich- as if the amps weren't on before and just kicked the woofers into high gear. When it does this the sound is very much improved. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to last very long. From what I can tell there is no pattern to this, or any way to judge why and when its going to do this. Also, it doesn't last that long either.
I am aware that there is a feature built into the unit that adjusts sound levels as you drive to compensate for road noise, however I am unsure if that is what the unit is doing because it sort of does it randomly regardless of speed, and it only does this once in a while. Could it be a loose connection somewhere, or am I missing somthing? What should I check?

Okay, is it past half-volume that you notice it the most? The Mach 460 has always been known to fade at high levels. That's why some put subs in their trunks to minimize fading. I'm guilty as charged.

All the lows come from your 2 amps located on the surround in your trunk. I would check to see if the plugs are okay, and there is no grounding out going on, or the plug didn't get pulled slightly. There is also a plug in the middle just between the surround and the back seat. I would also check that. You may have to get on your back to check that one.

I never noticed where the volume level was, but the only way I can describe it is that it sounds normal, and then its like 2 10 inch woofers suddenly kicked on for no apparent reason (this is the point where it sounds its best) and then a little while later, its gone!
Heres a stupid question, but are there indeed woofers in the vehicles setup? I know that the 2 amps are mounted on what looks like a black plastic box. Are there woofers within that box?

Okay, inside the surround (black plastic on rear deck) there are 2-6x8 woofers, and 2 tweeters. This is the same in your door panel, 2-6x8 woofers and the 2 tweeters mounted on your door. There are 3 amps for the system. The 3rd amp (for the tweeters only) is mounted behind your headunit.

If you had the Mach1000, you would have 4 amps out back in the trunk along with 2-10" subs.

Do you notice the fading more when the setting is on "all speakers?" Try going to "drivers seat." It will bring the sound out more, but it doesn't fix the fading. You should be getting full sound until half-volume, then it steps down the bass gradually so the system doesn't blow the woofers. The best way to cure clarity and reduce some of the fading is to install component speakers into where your speakers are now. Infinity makes a great set.
